Keano as new manager of Sunderland

ROY KEANE is set to make a sensational return to football as boss of struggling Sunderland.
Chairman Niall Quinn expects to unveil his former Republic of Ireland team-mate as the new manager at the Stadium of Light early next week.
Keane has been out of football since retiring as a Celtic player last season, but he is heading for his first managerial role as Sunderland boss with the task of shaking the club out of what he called its "losing culture".
Quinn is still in negotiations with the former Manchester United skipper but believes an agreement can be reached in the next few days.
Keane has always planned to go into management and his winning mentality and aggressive leadership qualities are just what the Wearsiders need.
Keane has been lured with a multi-million transfer budget and top wages funded by Quinn's eight man consortium.
After five games and five defeats combining his role of chairman with that of manager Quinn admitted he had to bring someone in to run the team. -
I can visualise him using the "hairdryer" treatment on his player jus like Fergie did.
Has anyone seen the football commercial on channel 23 & 24? The one funnily/sacarstically portrayed Arsenal's communication problems as well as Fergie renowned "Hairdryer" treatment.

the best thing that can happen is keano becomes a stunner in management then bring sunderland back to EPL...LOL.with excellent n impressive performances.Manutd end up the season winning the title.Fergie can retire off in a gd state of mind with glory.Next,the board employs KEANO n succeed fergie!great isn't it?!haha

I think this year quite hard already... Currently he haven't even take up the job yet and Sunderland after playing a few matches already are still without a point.
Sunderland is currently in 24th place out of 24 teams and is stuck at the foot of the League Championship.
They have a bunch of lousy players, the transfer market will be closing in 5 days time... so he won't be able to add anyone in till jan 07. -

Roy Keane will be confirmed as Sunderland manager following Monday's match against West Brom after the club confirmed they have agreed terms with the Irishman.
The former Manchester United captain was at the Stadium of Light on Sunday and has agreed to take over from manager-chairman Niall Quinn, who has occupied the role while a permanent choice was sought.
A statement form the club said: 'Roy Keane visited Sunderland today where he met with players and officials from the club.
'Keane and the club have agreed terms for him to be appointed as manager, and it is envisaged that he will sign a formal contract immediately after Sunderland's game against West Brom tomorrow.'
The 35-year-old Irishman was at the club's Academy of Light training headquarters on Sunday and met the players after training.
Keane's appointment would give the club a huge lift despite his lack of experience, although with the transfer window due to close next Thursday, he would have little opportunity to strengthen his squad.
The Black Cats entertain West Brom having lost each of their first four Championship games and worse, having been dumped out of the Carling Cup by bottom-of-the-league Bury. -
do note, that Keano has proper certs to back him up unless some in the EPL.
I am backing Keano to go into Sunderland and wake up a few souls.
It is quite sad to see great teams like this just dropping further and further like NForrest.
One thing I know, even if they still stay bottom, I know the Keano will make a difference. -
KEANE to sign a £6m Black Cats contract today
NIALL QUINN finally got his man last night when Roy Keane agreed a £2million-a year deal to manage Sunderland.
Keane will sign a three-year contract, then watch the Black Cats play West Brom at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.
Quinn had a late scare in his bid to land the Manchester United and Republic of Ireland legend. A mystery club attempted to hijack the deal but Keane stayed true to his word to become Sunderland's rookie boss. -
Sunderland climbed off the bottom of the Championship table with an impressive win over West Brom in front of prospective new manager Roy Keane.
Keane met the Sunderland players during training on Sunday and his words seem to have had an immediate effect.
The Black Cats had lost their opening four league games of the season and they were propping up the table going into the game against promotion favourites West Brom.
But the roles appeared to be reversed at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland dominated and showed a renewed hunger and confidence. Whitehead's goal brought applause from Keane, who was sat in the directors' box.
Collins only increased Sunderland's euphoria when he headed in a corner just after the break. -
Keano..Lol...I reckon he wont go far. Dont see him finishing the season with sunderland. He might do a stunner on players that under perform.

Sunderland have signed Dwight Yorke from Sydney FC for an undisclosed fee, according to the Australian club.
Sydney say Yorke has agreed a two-year deal with the Black Cats to become manager Roy Keane's first signing.
A Sunderland spokesman told BBC Sport the deal was not finalised but the club are confident it is one of several deals that will go through on Thursday.
Yorke, 34, and Keane were members of the United team that won the treble in 1999 before he left for Blackburn.
He also had a spell with Birmingham before captaining Sydney to the inaugural A-League title this year and played for Trinidad & Tobago at the World Cup.
Sydney manager and former England captain Terry Butcher was keen to keep hold of the player who made his name with Aston Villa before earning a £12.6m move to Old Trafford.
But ex-Sunderland boss Butcher admitted Yorke was still keen to prove he could do it "on the biggest stage".
He told the club's website: "It's sad to see Dwight leave. He is a great player and a tremendous personality to have in the team and he has worked very hard since I came to Sydney to be in shape to play.
"He has great respect amongst the players and coaching staff and he will be missed."
Yorke did not travel with his team-mates to Melbourne on Thursday and remained in Sydney in case he was needed for a medical or to sign relevant paperwork.
Sydney FC chairman Walter Bugno added: "Dwight Yorke has made an unbelievable contribution to Sydney FC and Australian football and we wish him nothing but luck in his new endeavours with Sunderland." -

He may be football's newest manager but Roy Keane was arguably the busiest yesterday. He signed no fewer than six players, the most high-profile being Dwight Yorke, who was also the first to complete his move in a £200,000 deal.
Once Yorke had been recruited, Keane not surprisingly put his energy into midfield positions. Wigan's Graham Kavanagh signed for £400,000 and United's Liam Miller on a free transfer on a three-year contract...
Then late last night Keane secured another Republic of Ireland player, the striker David Connolly, from Wigan in a deal believed to be worth £1.4m.
Kavanagh, 32, is precisely the sort of central midfield enforcer Sunderland have lacked since Gavin McCann's sale to Villa and will be welcomed by supporters.
Looking to acquire players he not only knows but has played alongside, Keane turned to another of his former clubs, Celtic, who allowed Ross Wallace and Stanislav Varga to travel south for talks. Both men signed last night.
Wallace, 21, is a Scotland Under-21 left-winger with pace and crossing precision. Varga is an imposing, 6ft 5in Slovakian central defender who left Slovan Bratislava in 2000 to sign for Peter Reid's Sunderland, where he experienced mixed fortunes before joining Celtic.
Varga, 33, is likely to line up alongside the former Newcastle left-back Robbie Elliott, 32. Elliott has been on a one-month contract at Sunderland but Keane, having liked what he has seen of him in training, yesterday extended that agreement until the end of January. -
