Rossi sets sights on Azzurri

Newcastle United's new loan signing Giuseppe Rossi has revealed his desire to take the chance to play his way into the full Italian squad in the future.
Manchester United's ambitious youngster secured a last minute move to St James' Park until January and wants to use the opportunity of first team football to score his way into coach Roberto Donadoni plans for the world champions.
The American-born Italian turned down the possibility of playing for the USA at the World Cup this summer, in favour of representing Italy and hopes to make the most of his selection.
"The Italian target is winning the European Championship with the Under-21 team and dreaming of big things like the jersey of the main national team, and being able to play with people like [Francesco] Totti, [Andrea] Pirlo and [Gennaro] Gattuso," Rossi told Corriere dello Sport.
"The English target is playing and scoring a lot."
Rossi has been compared to Italian great Paolo Rossi, whose six goals led the Azzurri to the 1982 world championship, in some quarters and the 19-year-old is flattered.
"I've seen on TV his World Cup goals and my father told me enough about him," he added.
"It would be great to follow in his tracks."
Rossi's first focus is on the Under-21 side who take on Iceland next in the Euro qualifiers, before his debut for The Magpies which could come against Fulham at home on September 9 -

Good finisher but still need to gain more experience in top level. Should be one of the first youth striker to make it to the first team since Mark Hughes. -
once he played at old trafford against don know wad club for a fa cup replay when he scored 2 goals. but he is not the type who can score 15 goals a season. too lightweight and slow in decision making. don konw y fergie like soooo much.Originally posted by zocoss:You all never see him play? he plays like Michael Owen during the younger days...Finishes like RvN.... -
Actually, if Rossi gets a full season, he can be a boy-wonder like Rooney.
His finishing and positioning all very good. I dun know why he's still being cultivated.
But good lah. Man U dun know how to appreciate. Let him go Newcastle. Sure end up break a leg or two. -
hes not slow in decision making , he's fast n his finishing is good. the difference is he did all these in reserve team . wonder how he fare when he go full time 1st team
