United youngster Jonny Evans has received his first call-up to the Northern Ireland senior squad for their Euro 2008 qualifief against Spain in Belfast.
The 18-year-old central defender is currently on loan with Belgian side Royal Antwerp, but Sir Alex Ferguson has high hopes for the youngster.
He has won three caps at Under21 level, but this is his first call-up to the senior side. Evans was with the the Under21 squad but following Northern Ireland's defensive frailties against Iceland, the Belfast-born player, who is yet to make his competitive Reds debut, has been drafted into Lawrie Sanchez's group.
Evans travelled with United on the pre-season tour of South Africa and also scored in the friendly win over Celtic in the summer. He has previously worked his way up through the youth and reserves ranks at the club.
