Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not start Norway's Euro 2008 qualifier against Moldova on Wednesday night.
The United striker scored twice in his country's 4-1 win over Hungary on Saturday, but coach Aage Hareide is wary of the strain two games in five days may place on the 33-year-old.
"Ole Gunnar played a good game against Hungary but he has to be used sensibly after his long injury," Hareide told the Norwegian Football Association's website.
"He won't be starting against Moldova. It would have been medically unacceptable."
Solskjaer admits he would have happily started Wednesday's game, but understands that he is being omitted for his own benefit.
He told VG: "I would have liked to play, but I understand the reasons. It might be wise that people around me stop me sometimes."
