UnitedÂ’s promising start to the season saw the Reds do the double in August, with Sir Alex Ferguson being named Barclays Manager of the Month and Ryan Giggs receiving the Player of the Month award.
Sir Alex expressed his desire for United to begin the campaign positively, and his players responded with three victories, winning 5-1 against Fulham, 3-0 at Charlton and 2-1 against Watford.
Giggs has been instrumental in all three matches, particularly in the absence of Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes against Charlton and Watford, where he scored the winning goal.
The Welshman will be 33 in November, but, amazingly, it is the first time he has won the award in his 15-year United career. In stark contrast, this is the 17th time Sir Alex has won the Manager of the Month award.
The accolades are voted for by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans.
