Ryan Giggs attributes his fantastic recent form to a long summer rest - but says he won't be satisfied unless continues his form over the course of the season.
Giggs has scored two match-winning goals in two games to help United to 1-0 and 2-1 victories over Tottenham and Watford respectively. For his efforts he was also awarded the August Player of the Month award, and he is determined to keep his form going.
"People have said I'm playing my best football but I won't accept that after just two or three games," he told The Sun. "If I get to the end of the season and I have kept it going then that will be fine. I have to keep this going.
"I had a long rest during the summer and maybe that has helped. I certainly feel fresh and I feel as though I have hit the ground running. I couldn't wait for the season to start and that is showing in the way I'm playing."
The Welshman's experience has been vital to the Reds this season, especially in the absence of Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes through supsension. It has afforded Giggs the opportunity to play a more central role, which he is relishing.
"I have been playing through the middle and I enjoy that. It gives me freedom and means I can roam around," he added. "I think I have the maturity and the experience to do that now, to know what runs not to make."
