Van der Sar blasts Man Utd defence

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has rapped his defenders after their narrow 3-2 win over Celtic on Wednesday night.
"It was not a good performance by us against Celtic and we made mistakes, especially at the back," Van der Sar said. "It is fair to say they probably surprised us a little bit with their attacking play, but I think we contributed to their success with our defending.
"It wasn't up to standard and I don't think our concentration was as good as it should have been. Little mistakes crept in when they shouldn't have at the back. We are not happy about it but, luckily, we got away with it. But if we want to progress in the competition, we have to cut out those mistakes because other teams will punish us even more." -

i thot Brown is succeptible to these lapses ? Ever since his long injury, he has not been that good. I remember one or two seasons ago, his defending is horrendous.

If you want to blame, blame it on the silly goalkeeper for putting his hands up and trying to block giggs.
He had no reason to run into giggs with his hands at chest level. Some referee may not have give but some will for obstruction. Cos of that, giggs suffer a hamstring injury and will now be out for about 4 weeks.
If you want to know what a dive means, go watch Robin van persie. The gk didn't even touch him and he when down like he was hit by mike tyson.
Giggs is smart, and as you said yourself he has a clean reputation. He didn't earn that in a year or two ok, he has been playing for 15 yrs. Mind you!
