Rio: Rooney Will Bounce Back
Wayne Rooney will soon be back to his scintillating best says Manchester United pal Rio Ferdinand. England striker Rooney has looked out of form since returning from a three-game ban. But defender Ferdinand said: “Wayne is getting sharper with each game, but you have to remember he has been out a long time. He has only played about six games in six months and no matter how good you are that is going to affect you. But I thought he was our liveliest player at Reading at the weekend. Against Benfica on Tuesday night he was asked to do a different job out wide and did it well, sacrificing himself for the team.”
Neil Custis, The Sun
The Sun quotes captain Gary Neville as admitting United were too disrepectful in last year's Champions League campaign. The Reds finished bottom of their group, and Neville admitted: “We are very aware of what happened last year - we didn’t respect the opponents in our group. You have to show respect to the teams and the players you are playing."
Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo reveals how he is completely indifferent to terrace taunts from opposing fans. "I just stay focused and play my game," he revealed. "It doesn't bother me because I am used to being booed these days."
