  WAYNE ROONEY is having extra training sessions in a bid to end his dramatic slump in form.
  
  The Manchester United and England striker has looked a shadow of his former self since returning from a three-match suspension and has cut a peripheral figure in his last four games.
  
  And with United taking on Newcastle tomorrow and Rooney back in the Englad squad for the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Macedonia and Croatia, the 20-year-old is desperate to end his worrying loss of form.
  
  United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz said: "Wayne finished training then stayed a while working alone because he knows he needs to do something.
  
  "It's good he is conscious of making mistakes. It just means he comes in every day with a greater desire to work. But game by game it will start to come right."

  I believe he is trying to hard, given that he is 20 and with so much expectations.
  
  SAF is doing what I expect, just give this boxer some space.
  
  He needs to mature and grow as what Ronaldo is doing..
  Ronaldo went thru a crisis and boy, he is rebounding well.
  Sames go for Rooney.
  
  Nothing is plain sailing, sometimes have to manage with wind not in your sail..

  thanks but no thanks to KuKu Eriksson for rushing rooney boy back too early few months bk despite fergie's warning.
  
  in 2002, Eriksson did the same on Keiron Dyer.He never came back ever since.

  Hmmm.. Maradona still played great football even when he was expanding horizontally. It's only after he retired that he really went out of shape.
