Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims he is savouring every day as a professional, having finally shaken off his injury troubles.
The striker struggled to overcome a knee injury for the best part of three years and Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he felt Solskjaer's career was over.
Solskjaer never faltered in his bid to return and is finally being rewarded with a regular run in the team.
The striker netted twice against Newcastle on Sunday and is happy to be playing once again.
"I have never complained too much," he told Sky Sports News. "It gave me a taste of how life will be after you stop playing.
"You spend time with the family, but this is a bonus to play football again and I will look forward to it."
Solskjaer admits that, during his darker days, he contemplated retirement but is now on an upward curve.
"Sometimes I did [think about retirement], but I always wanted to get back playing and that is the most important thing.
"I just want to do my best and today I was lucky enough to get a couple."
Solskjaer's brace against The Magpies lifted United to the summit of The Premiership and the Norwegian says it is nice to be on top.
"No matter what time in the season it is, it is great to be at the top of the league," he noted.
"It is more important to be top when it comes to May, but we will sit there for a couple of weeks now." -
OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER was spurred on in his fight for fitness by a determination to play alongside Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Solskjaer, 33, took the final step in his rehabilitation as he managed a full 90 minutes for the first time in three years against Newcastle on Sunday,
He scored both goals in Manchester UnitedÂ’s 2-0 win.
And the Norwegian then revealed he kept his spirits up during three years of injury misery by dreaming of being in the same United line-up as Rooney and Ronaldo.
He explained: “It really motivated me because I want to play with these lads.
“Even at my age, you’re never too old to learn — and I definitely learn from those two players. It was pleasing to get the full 90 minutes. It’s good to get that out of the way so you don’t have to answer questions about it any more. -

It's great that he finally get to play in the starting line-up..and lasted the whole 90+ mins.. and scored 2 winning goals!!!
