Edwin van der Sar is urging United to take advantage of Liverpool's stuttering start to the season and gain victory over their arch rivals on Sunday.
Rafael Benitez's men are currently residing in 11th place having already lost three of their eight games so far this term, all on the road.
They are without a Premiership win in a month and the United goalkeeper is hoping the Reds can prolong that run.
"Liverpool are a quality side but itÂ’s not going for them at the moment and hopefully we can take advantage of that," van der Sar told the Liverpool edition of United Review. "Victory is what the supporters want and thatÂ’s what all the players want too.
"Every player is one hundred and fifty per cent motivated to win this match and weÂ’re all raring to go."
The last time the two sides met was in the FA Cup 5th round at Anfield back in February. That day Liverpool were victorious thanks to a Peter Crouch header. Van der Sar is well aware of the threat posed by the Liverpool striker and has been working on some special training drills in a bid to combat the threat.
"IÂ’ve been doing some work over the last couple of days in training," he revealed. "I always try and do that before every match. Crouch is always a handful and is particularly dangerous in the air. So wherever possible IÂ’ll be trying to help my defence.
"They've got some very good players," added the soon-to-be 36-year-old. "We'll need to keep an eye on all of them. Craig Bellamy is very quick, of course Steven Gerrard is a quality footballer and they also have my fellow countryman Dirk Kuyt in attack.
"We're determined to get the win. We're now in a position where we want to be and itÂ’s important that we do everything we can to stay at the top of the table."
