Gary Neville insists there is not sweeter feeling in football than beating arch-rivals Liverpool.
The Reds ran out 2-0 winners over Rafael Benitez's side on Sunday thanks to goals from Paul Scholes, playing his 500th game for the Reds, and an absolute corker from Rio Ferdinand.
Neville was understandably delighted with the result which he believes could set United on their way to even greater things.
"These are the games that sometimes determine how you do during the season," the skipper told Manchester United Radio. "The confidence that you get from winning these matches is fantastic and it can help to take you forward.
"This particular fixture stands alone in the season. You always get yourself up for this match, no matter what else is happening because it's always a game that both teams feel they need to win.
"It's always been the same ever since I started playing against Liverpool at the age of fourteen for United. It's all about the result. Of course we pride ourselves on producing great attacking football, but in this particular match it's all about getting the victory."
