Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been given the green light by owner Malcolm Glazer to land Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich and whoever else he needs in January, with £20m available for transfers. (News of the World)
The question is does Man u still need Owen Hargreaves?
with scholes and carrick doing rather well and with fletcher and O'shea as back-up, would it be better to spend it on a striker or another midfielder?

i think man utd needs hargreaves
our players on bench are not up to standard for now -
yes DMI got it right.
we are now neck and neck with Chelsea.
the only difference is the depth of squad.
although, Chelsea got depth, it is not point asking SWP to do magic when he is so rusty.
I do believe for MUFC, we do need a striker, and a MF.
we have no holding MF yet, and OwenH will change that.
We may become defensive but at least, we will become effective. -
looking at how OH play, he is better than Makele, so I believe he will bring more energy to the team as a whole.

Coz da manu midfield for now is passable but no good holding midfield to mount cup challenges on all fronts. And once Scholes and Giggs retire, den how?
Hargreaves is needed. Its juz a matter of when. -
I just hope that they won't become another liverpool where rotation of players causes them to lose their edge and understanding...
I know Hargreaves is good but somehow i find him rather small size for a defensive midfielder... probably he make it up with his speed rather than strength. -
Transfer news are always considered baseless until the player have already sign or undergoing the medical. Other then that, it'll only be rumours.
But I guess Man Utd will benefit alot should they sign Owen Hargreaves; the question remains, is he able to make that much a different within the short period of time? All the more with him just broken his leg and not getting the required match fitness and match experience.
So I believe even if Man Utd does sign him, they will do so in the June transfer period next season. -

He cost 10 million because United is buying him and all the hype surrounding him changing clubs. His asking price is actually 2 times the price that he's worth.
