WAYNE ROONEY reckons he would have been a builder or on the dole if it was not for football.
The Manchester United and England star admitted: “I’d probably be unemployed although a lot of my mates from school are builders so maybe something like that.
“It’s difficult for me to say though. I love football — it’s all I’ve ever done.”
Rooney also revealed he is determined to be a decent role model.
He said: “Kids look up to footballers.
“When I was younger my role models were Duncan Ferguson, Alan Shearer and Michael Owen. Now I’m in that position I’ve become more conscious.
“If someone’s trying to mark me then it leaves space for other players to run into. If someone’s that determined to stop me, I take it as a compliment.”
Rooney admitted he would love to captain England one day. He said: “It’s certainly something to aspire to.
"Hopefully it could happen, but if it doesn’t, I won’t be heartbroken. It’s not one of my biggest worries.”
