i think this shows that Man U needs to bolster their striker dept come Jan, like it or not. even the commentators remarked "And Man U has no strikers on their bench. Solksjaer is injured and Smith has not got any form." And with Saha having an off day (one for trying to anticipate the whistle and one for missing the penalty) - and Rooney played deep, die lah. No goals to show for.
Defensively Man U is okay. they din concede from open play & the free kick is superb. Its the strikers that Man U needs bolstering. Maybe if he had changed Heinze earlier, results might differ.
And Carrick- isn't he supposed to replace Keane ? He is not imposing at all, i mean he is in the team for so long, maybe its time for him to be imposing? Or if he is not Keane's type of player, what is his function? Creative midfielder? -

man u needed a draw to qualify. but benfica will be gunning for victory, so a draw is not enuff to qualify. will lighting strikes twice again, when benfica beat man u again in final match in cl, just like last season, i hope not. if man u is out of cl again, i dunno what to say man.....
knn saha dun take pk lar, let ronaldo or giggs or scholes or even rooney take pk. saha doesnt convinces me he is good enuff to play as main striker. to me, he is pacy, but he needed a few chances to score, not a sign of a top striker, like henry or rvn mould.
if torres come would be better, can be man u man striker

why not play smith? instead o shea and evra came on, wtf. one defender, one defender cum midfielder, can they score goals, hell no.
even if smith not yet match fitness, say 60% fit, even 200% of evra and o shea match fitness still would not score goals. add in another one, gary neville. one to one with the goalie, he still cant score

Celtic captain Neil Lennon claims that Gary Neville told him that Louis Saha would miss the late penalty in their Champions League clash.
The Frenchman had his spot-kick saved when Celtic were leading 1-0 and an equaliser would have sent United through to the knock-out stages.
Neville apparently predicted the miss but rather than - as captain - asking someone else to take the penalty, Neville watched Saha take a penalty that was at the perfect height for Artur Boruc to save.
"Gary Neville actually came across to me and said about Saha, 'his head has gone, he's going to miss this," said Lennon.
Saha's miss meant Celtic went through to the knock-out stages, leaving United needing a result against defeat to claim a place in the last 16.

Goalkeeper Artur Boruc revealed how memory served him well as he saved Louis Saha's late penalty to book Celtic a place in the Champions League knock-out stages for the first time.
Poland international Boruc took heed of the way Saha shot when he scored from the spot in United's 3-2 win over Celtic at Old Trafford in September - and went the correct way, diving to his right to palm away a firm strike.
Boruc said: 'I don't know about it being a great save from the penalty. Every time a `keeper saves a penalty it's luck, that's all.
'I was thinking about the last penalty he scored against me and I thought he might do the same thing, that's what was on my mind.
