Sir Alex Ferguson has branded Giuseppe Rossi's loan spell at Newcastle a wasted exercise.
Rossi was allowed to join the Magpies to further his footballing education with Ferguson believing he would be a regular member of Glenn Roeder's squad.
Instead, the promising 19-year-old has made just six Premiership appearances and four of those were as a late substitute.
Rossi has not been seen in league combat since completing the full 90 minutes in the home defeat to Sheffield United on November 4. And, with his own striking resources stretched to breaking point, Ferguson will call time on the Italian Under-21 star's spell in the north-east at the beginning of next month.
"Giuseppe will come back to us because he is just not getting enough football at Newcastle," said Ferguson.
"The understanding we had with them was that he would play more games.
"Every manager is subject to their own opinions on players, so I don't want to say too much about that. But we could have done with him here, so he might as well come back to us."
Rossi will return at a time when Henrik Larsson is about to arrive.

At least we don't have to pay for his salary.
But seriously, loaning him to Newcastle and expecting them to play him? What a laugh!
Larsson loan is a good way to boost the strike force and it's definitely the most clever way. Cos Smith and Ole can work on their fitness quickly to stake their claim in the squad, Rossi can impress Fergie as well and there will be less fear of Saha or Rooney getting injured.

what u all think of rossi? yes , he is skillful, good finishing , but psychically , i think he is still too weak to be a striker.... , if mark by big and strong defenders he can't do anything...
iceFatboy
he is more scholes type of player.

i dont understand what newcastle have in mind loaning a striker from man u.
it is a stupid thing to do.

true, really puzzling.. considering if you put all their strikers, they should have 4-5 but 90% injured.

Hmm Rossi really skilful meh?

I think so, with his smaller built, he has to have some special quality to thrive, and I bet that's the head on the shoulders, and his skills.
I don't hear any mention of his pace or power, so should be his skills and his head then..
I may be wrong.

frankly, unless he has the skill of zola i think he will not do well in the premiership.
