Louis Saha feels the arrival of Henrik Larsson will bring a healthy battle for places in the striking department which the Frenchman believes will benefit the team in the long run
The Swedish striker, who has signed on loan for two and a half months, will be at Upton Park on Sunday to watch his new team-mates in action against West Ham.
He will then begin training with United before returning to Sweden for Christmas. He is free to play from 1 January, with his first game in a red shirt likely to be against his former manager Martin O'Neill when the Reds entertain Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round at Old Trafford on 7 January.
Saha, who netted his 12th goal of the season in the 3-1 win over Manchester City, is excited by the 35-year-old's arrival and is confident he'll chip in with his fair share of goals.
"Any new signing is a threat to every player in the squad but competition is always good for the team," he told United Review. "ItÂ’ll be a great feeling to play with a player like Henrik. He can score all types of goals and IÂ’m confident heÂ’ll do that for United.
"I think itÂ’s a very clever move by the manager and a great deal for the club. Henrik has great experience of scoring goals and IÂ’ll be watching him closely when he starts training with us.
"He knows what positions to run into and where he can cause problems for the opposition and I think heÂ’ll fit into the team really well.
"ItÂ’s a bit of a shame that he is only coming for a couple of months but you never know what might happen!" added Saha.
