Michael Carrick has played down the title mind games emanating from Stamford Bridge, adding that United are fully focused on maintaining the form that has put the Reds top of the Premiership.
United are two points clear of the current champions, but Jose Mourinho and his players would have everyone believe top spot is only on loan.
However, like he is on the pitch, United’s £14million summer signing Carrick is subtly and confidently assured about the Reds’ chances in the title race this season.
"As a team so far this season, we have done really well and nothing is going to change our mindset," he said. "So we don't really take too much notice of what is said."
The Reds are entering a hectic and crucial Christmas schedule which will see United face Aston Villa, Wigan, Reading and Newcastle in the space of nine days.
Carrick foresees an interesting title battle ahead, right up to when the two teams meet in what could be a potentially title-deciding match at Stamford Bridge on 14 April.
"We are two terrific teams and great squads, so it's going to be tight all the way to the game at Chelsea,” he added. “Hopefully we can have it tied up by then, but that's probably going to be too good to be true."
if we manage to come thru the christmas fixtures with all full points, then we deservedly win a place to challenge Chelsea.
if we wither, then we are not worthy...
the table doesn't lie..
