Michael Carrick has warned Jose Mourinho his title taunts will fall on deaf ears as Chelsea and Manchester United gear up for a lengthy Premiership battle.
The Red Devils currently lead the top flight by just two points following their defeat at the hands of West Ham on Sunday, whilst Chelsea closed the gap with a late 3-2 win over Everton.
Before the weekend's events, Blues boss Mourinho had been engaging in some verbal sparring with Sir Alex Ferguson, claiming that United's previous five-point lead was unrealistic given they still had to travel to Stamford Bridge.
The Portuguese tactician and his Scottish rival are masters of the nuances of mind-games, but Carrick says the United squad are paying no attention to Mourinho's public declarations as they focus on winning back the title.
"As a team so far this season, we have done really well and nothing is going to change our mindset," said Carrick.
"So we don't really take too much notice of what is said.
"We are two terrific teams and great squads, so it's going to be tight all the way to the game at Chelsea.
"Hopefully we can have it tied up by then, but that's probably going to be too good to be true."

actually, I am hearing alot of humble comments from Carrick and even SAF.they are answering with open-ended, and really sounds professional. they use words like "two great teams", and "could".
apparently, we can clearly see the intelligence level here.

Nice to hear MUFC players and manager who think b4 they speak.
unlike those who have to retract after making a harsh statement. I thought they were feared by all, but apparently, not English FA or Everton's lawyers.
