Henrik Larsson cannot wait to make his United debut, but he will have to wait a few more days to pull on the red shirt.
The Swedish forward, who joins United on loan until mid-March, had hoped to be in action for the Reds for the first time against Newcastle on New Year's Day. But, as his registration could not be processed in time, he will have to wait.
Instead, he is likely to make his debut against one of his former Celtic bosses when the Reds take on Martin O'Neill's Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round this weekend.
"Although I will be with United from the start of January my registration will take a short time to come through so I won't be available for the first match. But the sooner I can play the better," he said.
"At the moment I have no idea when I will get a chance to play, but obviously I just want to be in the best possible shape so that I can respond whenever I am called upon."
The 35-year-old former Celtic and Barcelona star has already become acquainted with his new team-mates, having trained at Carrington for a week before Christmas. He was impressed with the warm welcome and United's impressive facilities.
"I had a really good reception from the United players when I arrived," he wrote on his official website, www.HenrikLarsson.com. "They seem like a good bunch of lads and it was very exciting to be shown around the club for the first time.
"The facilities are fantastic, second to none, and the whole set up is brilliant. I walked out onto the Old Trafford pitch and it looked amazing. I just can't wait to get out there for real during a game.
"This is a massive club, with a great tradition and I know that I will be with them during a really important time so it would be great if I can contribute something. There are a lot of world class players here and I'm looking forward to getting the chance to play alongside them." ___________________________________________________________
Hope to see him putting on Man Utd jersey soon!
