Reds' chief executive David Gill doesn't expect United to be doing much business during the January transfer window, but he has not ruled out a move for Owen Hargreaves.
The Bayern Munich midfielder was first linked with a switch to Old Trafford last summer when he publicly stated his desire to join United. Gill did his utmost to broker a deal but the German club proved stubborn negotiaters and refused to budge on the transfer.
Last week, Sir Alex Ferguson told Manchester United Radio that the club were "looking at one thing" when asked about bringing in potential transfer targets this month.
Gill insists there is money available but is not expecting much of it to be spent until the summer months.
"The money is there but traditionally we do most of our big spending in the summer and I think that will continue," he told Manchester United Radio.
"Things may change; if there's an area in which we want to do something then we'll do it. But at the moment we don't plan to do a great deal.
"We've already brought in Henrik Larsson, while a number of the players who have been out on loan are also back at the club.
"I think we all know the area in which we want to strengthen," added Gill, seemingly in reference to Hargreaves. "But I'm not going to comment on that."

don't you just want to hate him...

yar..
in other words, it could just be another tactical ploy to show BM that we aren't gonna get ripped off for Hargreaves..
Hargreaves wanna come and play for us which is the best thing for us and worst thing for BM..

Get a winger man.. Why aren't they bidding for Simao Sabrosa...
CKeer
Yep. Like i've said before, Hargreaves value would be between 10-14 million, anything more is a rip-off, anything less is bargain.
I think United should look to replace Giggs. Park seems too lightweight to me and Richardson hasn't done anything great.
Cheers. C.K

I believe they are aiming for france winger's ribery..
hmm Ribery is a good player, thot he was hailed as the next zidane? SAF has good relationships with French - Cantona, Barthez (until he clowned too much), Bellion, Evra, Blanc, Saha....
lpx88
Then give him 50 million in budget for wad-.-
Ribery is ok i guess...but i doubt they will put a strong bid in for him...
off topic ....my friend made an analogy about Micah Richards too
'That guy should come man utd la'
I say 'But why?We alrdy have Gary Neville as our RB-cum-skipper. If he come he confirm cannot squeeze the captain out one..If we buy him wont we be doing a SWP by leaving him on the bench to rot?'
'If u were him would you rather go to Man Utd and be the understudy of the manchester united captain for a year, and immediately shine as his successor after that?Or star alongside Terry for a few games and let the door shut in ur face and ur next game is only god knows when?'
Thought provoking i must say.
But i still think...
A player like him should cont to stay at city for at least till the end of the next season.

Ribery? Next Zidane? Not even close to the maestro.. The closest thing to Zidane is Ronaldinho.. Or get someone english like Milner, Downing..

the last two will be damn expensive. and please judge them by season not by per match...
