The AIG ‘Goals for Kids’ initiative has already generated an impressive £71,000 for charity so far this season (up to and including the Reds’ draw at Newcastle).
United’s principal sponsor has agreed to donate £1000 for every goal scored in all competitions (starting from the Charlton game in August), and donated £15,000 to kick off the campaign at the beginning of the season.
In the UK the scheme will benefit such charities as The ChildrenÂ’s Sunshine Home in Dublin, Francis House ChildrenÂ’s Hospice in Manchester and UNICEF. At the end of the season the money will be split between the chosen charities to help them continue their valuable work.
