Manchester United have given permission for Wayne Rooney to join up with the England squad ahead of Wednesday's friendly with Spain.
The striker's participation in the game at Old Trafford had originally been thrown into doubt after he was removed in the second half of United's 4-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Following the game, Sir Alex Ferguson stated that Rooney had picked up a knock in a challenge and was a doubt for the international clash.
However, following medical examinations with his club on Monday morning, Rooney has now been given the green light to link up with England boss Steve McClaren and his side.
The final decision over the former Everton man's fitness will now be left to The Football Association and McClaren's medical staff.
The majestic striker's availability will come as a relief to the national boss, as Rooney scored England's only goal in their last outing - a 1-1 friendly draw with Holland in November.
Hooray!!
