No rush on Ronaldo deal
Sir Alex Ferguson insists he is in no rush to finalise contract negotiations with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Talks are underway to tie the 22-year-old to Old Trafford for an extra two years beyond his current contract, but Sir Alex isn't hurrying the talks to a completion.
With United, Ronaldo and the player's representatives all keen for the winger to remain at Old Trafford, the Boss is happy for events to take a natural course.
"The great thing is we have got Cristiano until 2010 so there is not a desperation," Sir Alex said at his weekly press briefing.
"It is an amicable arrangement in terms of us saying to him we wanted him to sign a new contract.
"We spoke to his agent, they were happy about that. The boy is happy. Now we are in the final phase of trying to conclude a deal which will see the boy sign for another two years until 2012."
Real Madrid and Barcelona have been consistently linked with moves for Ronaldo, but Sir Alex insists the winger is already in the perfect place to continue his astonishing development.
"There is no question Cristiano is at the right club," said Sir Alex. "It has been a pleasure seeing him develop over the last few years.
"He is 22 now and there has never been a time when he has not enjoyed it."
