chelski could drop points too for that matter. they arent in convincing form either, compared to the last 2 seasons -

is it VDS for stoning and not reacting to ferdinand's pass?
or is it ferdinand diverting the ball suddenly and VDS could not react fast enuf to the direction change?

I do feel there's always that possible danger of own goal by central defenders as they play close to the goal, just a slightly wrong or unfortunate touch of the ball and it'll go into the back of the net. I've known of other established central defenders who have made own goals as well. Don't ask me to recall now though.
The ball is round, so it could just go about anywhere sometimes. And I believe defenders will always try to get a leg to the ball to put it out of play for a corner or something. Yet you can't expect the defender not to try and get to the ball first. -
ya usually defenders inadvertently head the ball and divert it into their own goal. else they slide to try to keep the ball out but slide the ball into goal.... much like the goal conceded against blackburn last week, though it didnt directly result in an own goal

u put pressure on the goalkeeper, u force him to make a clearance (no handling for backpasses) which might result in a rebound from him or the opponent..
i'd say its 80% Rio's fault.. please do not give him the armband anymore, let rooney have the armband if Giggs is not on the field. the boy will become even more inspired to lead. -
rooney is young and hot-tempered. much like keane. the hot-tempered part that is. the through balls to rooney on sat werent of high quality.... but james did save a couple of good efforts from him...
