Milan goalkeeper Dida is an injury doubt for the team's UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Manchester United.
The Brazilian suffered a shoulder injury against Messina on Sunday and the Rossoneri admit the player is unlikely to feature at Old Trafford next week.
The injury has taken time to settle and an extensive scan has been delayed until Thursday.
Milan's initial prognosis is not optimistic and club doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman admitted to Gazzetta dello Sport: "We are worried.
"We would like to understand the problem but we can't because of the condition of the shoulder.
"We hope it is not serious but we must wait. On Thursday he'll have further scans and then we'll see.
"The aim is Manchester but that is doubtful."
Dida's absence could mean a start at Old Trafford for Milan understudy Zeljko Kalac, formerly of Leicester City. -

AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has called on Serie A rivals AC Milan to take revenge for his side's Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Manchester United when they take on Alex Ferguson's men in the semis.
There was friction between the two sides off the pitch and crowd trouble in Rome during the first leg which the hosts won 2-1, before being thrashed 7-1 by United at Old Trafford.
Writing about Milan in the Corriere dello Sport, Totti said: "Good luck for their Champions League campaign. I'm sure the vast experience of (Carlo) Ancelotti's side in international matches will mean they can face United on an equal footing."
"I hope to see Milan in the final, it would mean they had avenged us." -

Milan will be tough, against them the last time, MUFC was tied up.
they were able to neutralize any attacks either from wings or centre.
and with their old legs, they are experienced.
and their desire is to meet liverpool and put things right.
well, for all italian or milan fans, it is like a god-send.
and in order for MUFC to even dent their spirits, it would have to be at least a 2- goals cushion going into San Siro or else, it is going to be hard. -

ANCELOTTI BOOSTED BY RIO INJURY
AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti admits an injury to Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will play into his team's hands for the Champions League semi-finals. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Ferdinand will be sidelined for two weeks after a reoccurrence of his groin strain.
If that diagnosis proves accurate, the 28-year-old will miss both matches against Milan. Ancelotti, speaking after his team's 3-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday evening and learning of Ferdinand's injury, said: "He is a very important player for their defence."
However, the Rossoneri coach is concerned about United's attacking potential. He said: "We will have to be careful and keep possession of the ball but that could be a two-edged sword because if we do not do well our opponents could hit us on the counter-attack."
United host Milan at Old Trafford on Tuesday before playing the second leg at the San Siro on May 2. -

Manchester United are facing a full-blown injury crisis before their biggest match of the season in Tuesday's Champions League semi-final with AC Milan. Injuries to defender Rio Ferdinand and midfielder Kieran Richardson in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough mean that seven of United's first-team squad are on the treatment table before the first leg at Old Trafford. Worse still for manager Alex Ferguson, the problems have focused on a defence that badly needs to deny Milan an away goal before United's trip to the San Siro next Wednesday.
Ferdinand, who will also miss the second leg with a groin strain, joins injured fellow defenders Gary Neville, Mikael Silvestre and Nemanja Vidic. To add to their woes, central defender Craig Cathcart, who had just been drafted in from United's youth ranks as cover, has suffered a long-term injury in training.
Richardson's absence is a particular blow as he can also deputise at left back. South Korean midfielder Park Ji-sung and French striker Louis Saha are also out. On the bright side, Ferguson expects left back Patrice Evra to return after limping out of last week's Premier League win over Sheffield United and Neville might just be back in time.
United, who routed AS Roma 7-1 at home two weeks ago, will look to Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney to use their pace and strike power to pressurise a Milan defence that includes 38-year-old Paolo Maldini. However, Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that very wealth of experience will give his team the edge.
Off the pace in Serie A, Milan can move up a gear in Europe, as they showed in a 2-0 quarter-final win at Bayern Munich - the German club's first European defeat at the Allianz Arena. -
