New blow as United lose Park for a year

Manchester UnitedÂ’s injury crisis took another turn for the worse on Thursday night as it emerged that midfielder Ji-Sung Park could be out for up to a year. South Korean star Park has flown to America for an appointment with renowned knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman and will be operated on in the coming days.
The exact prognosis will not be known until Colorado-based Dr Steadman has explored the full extent of the midfielderÂ’s ligament damage. Park had enjoyed a fruitful season at Old Trafford until suffering his injury last month. He has not played since the 4-1 home win against Blackburn on March 31 and it is feared he may not be back in action for months.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson plans to buy Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich in the summer — an £18m deal has already been agreed in principle — but will miss Park’s versatility and in particular the options he provides on the right side.
Ferguson is still sweating on defender Rio FerdinandÂ’s fitness ahead of next weekÂ’s game in Milan, where United will defend a 3-2 lead. -

its hard to tell if he will be out for 6 months or a year.. look at vidic.. also supposed to be out for the season, but he might be back soon.
as for the winger situation, SAF will definitely buy another winger, relying on Richardson is TOO BIG A RISK!! and besides Giggs and Ronaldo needs a rest in between tight schedules in order to avoid injuries until Park comes back.. darn!!
i feel for him for missing out on this grand treble opportunity..

both soccernet.com and manutd.com never mention anything about being out for a year, they only said his season has ended.
but at least he's in safe hands, that specialist has worked on quite a few notable footballers like RVN, Keano, Micheal owen etc. -

Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung will be sidelined until August at the earliest after undergoing knee surgery in the United States.After failing to discover the exact nature of the injury Park picked up in the last minute of the Premiership victory over Blackburn last month, Park opted to see Dr Richard Steadman, who has carried out a number of successful knee operations on soccer stars in the past.
Steadman completed the surgery on Saturday morning, and Park will now spend the next few months working on his rehabilitation before being examined again summer.
"Ji-Sung Park has had a complicated cartilage operation that required an expert in his field," confirmed a United spokesman.
"He will be out for the remainder of the season and we will assess the situation again in August."
Not only will Park miss the end of United's Treble bid, he will also play no part in South Korean's Asia Cup campaign in July.
