SIR ALEX FERGUSON wants £20million England starlet Micah Richards for next year's assault on the Champions League.
On the eve of the Manchester derby, the United boss has targeted the versatile City right-back as Gary Neville's long-term successor.
Powerful Richards, 18, who was nominated for this year's PFA Young Player of the Year Award, is "aware and excited" by the Reds' interest. Fergie is ready to move quickly to trump Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham - all of whom tried to take Richards to London during last summer's transfer window and in January.

City fought tooth and nail to keep him, tying Richards down to a four-year contract last year.
United, without the injured Neville, collapsed to AC Milan in the Champions League and that has seen the attention turn back to the teenager.
It adds more spice to the City of Manchester Stadium clash which injured Richards will sit out.
Victory could see United win the title this weekend if Chelsea are beaten by Arsenal on Sunday.

Get Cicinho! Get Philip Lahm! Why get Richards? £18 million for Hargreaves. How much is left to get other players? Imagine another £8 - 10 million for say... Gamst Pederson, then £12 million for strikers, still got enough for Richards mah?

Seriously doubt this deal will go thru. Although Andy Cole did it but i doubt Micah would ever come. Go for Luke Young.
