Johnny Evans is set to meet Sir Alex Ferguson to gauge his thoughts on whether he will feature for Manchester United next term. The defender spent the season on loan at Sunderland and played a key part in their push for promotion to the Premiership.Black Cats chief Roy Keane has been hugely impressed with Evans' development and would be happy to retain his services, but said recently he felt the defender would be heading back to Old Trafford.
Evans claims he is in the dark over his future, but will know more following a meeting with Ferguson. "Sir Alex Ferguson wants me to go in to see him this week, and I would like to speak to him too," Evans told the Evening Chronicle. "I don't know what his thoughts are, but I would like to find out."
Evans has admitted he would not be keen on heading back to play for United's reserves. The 20-year-old said: "It would take some adapting to. "Like every footballer, I want to play games because that's what it's all about. "But at a club like Manchester United there's a lot of competition for places and as a youngster I couldn't expect to be playing week-in, week-out."
