Fergie eyes a new keeper

MANCHESTER UNITED are lining up a move for Hearts keeper Craig Gordon. Gordon has been the Scottish club's skipper since Steven Pressley's controversial departure to Celtic in December. But the 24-year-old is rumoured to have run out of patience with behind-the-scenes problems at Tynecastle.
Gordon, capped 14 times for Scotland, has been valued by Hearts at £10million. But that figure is unlikely to deter Sir Alex Ferguson as he looks to strengthen his Premiership-winning squad. If Gordon moves to Old Trafford, he is likely to compete with Ben Foster for the No1 jersey. Edwin Van der Sar will find himself surplus to requirements when the deal does go through this summer. -

Maybe there is a reason why Fergie is interested in him even though he may have Vds & Foster already... Seems better than Foster... -

very sad for VDS, just signed a one-year extension and now genna squeezed out. I guess really, they lay the blame on him for losing the FA cup.
At the end of day, getting another goalie is good for Man U bcos Foster is not that good yet, neither is the Polish guy.
But I dun understand if man U can spend millons for a striker or midfield, why don't they properly spend good money to buy Buffon or a world-class goalie? I don't consider Foster or Kurschak good. -

Keeper plays down transfer talk
Scottish international goalkeeper Craig Gordon insists he will not demand to leave Hearts, despite interest from a host of top clubs.
United are one of the surprise names being linked with a big money move for the Jam Tarts' skipper, who is valued at around £8million.
"The ball is very much in their (Hearts') court," Gordon told Hearts World. "I still have two years left on my contract and I'm not banging down the door asking to get away," said Gordon.
"It's entirely up to them. If they decide to cash in on me and take some money for me, then that's their prerogative and I'll listen to whatever offer comes in, but if it's a good offer for me I'll be happy for that.
"If it's not, I'll look forward to the start of the new season here. There's no rush for anybody, me or any of the clubs."
BBC Sport suggested on Sunday that Sir Alex Ferguson was considering a big-money summer bid for Gordon, who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Arsenal. -
