Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he has no intention of being in management at 70.

The Manchester United boss will celebrate his 67th birthday on New Year's Eve, suggesting his exit from Old Trafford is drawing ever closer.

He revealed in the summer that he does not envisage working past 2010, with Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho already touted as a possible replacement.

Now, in a tribute to legendary manger Bobby Robson, who was sacked at Newcastle at the age of 71, Ferguson has one again reiterated his desire to step into retirement in the near future.

"I won't be doing a Bobby Robson and be a manager when I am 70," he told the Mail on Sunday.

"It is just knowing when to quit.

"Football is like a drug which is difficult to give up.

"My appetite and enthusiasm are as strong as ever. I love watching Manchester United. We have some terrific players who are only going to get better."

    First Choice: Martin O'Neill.

Roy Keane if he continue to prove his abilities at Sunderland maybe can consider...

Maybe Carlos Querioz....but Portugal seems to be struggling at the moment :(

It might be Capello if he proves to be a hit with England.

i think Querioz is doomed to be a reserve coach.

I dont mind roy keane or cantona.

But Martin Jol isnt a bad choice too.

maybe they will go for a temporary person until giggs or neville wants to take over?

But why Roy Keane (who has yet to even battle a single European team) or Cantona (who isn't even a manager)?

We are a large and world class team. Our future manager must also be world class with a proven track record and titles to back it up.
