Barcelona could be set to re-ignite their interest in Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic, and are preparing a bid for the Serbian, according to reports.
English tabloid The Daily Mirror suggests that the Blaugrana have suspended negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk over the transfer of Dmytro Chygrynskiy, after the clubs could not agree terms, and have turned their attention to Vidic.
The 27-year old, who missed Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Birmingham City this afternoon through injury, has apparently become’s Pep Guardiola’s main target once again, after he previously courting the defender last season.
Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is unlikely to encourage a move for the former Spartak Moscow stopper, who he paid £7m for in 2006, as he has formed a strong partnership with Rio Ferdinand in the Red Devils back line.
Guardiola is looking to strengthen his defensive options, following the departure of Martin Caceres to Juventus on loan, and has already added Maxwell from Inter.
Vidic was shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award last season in England, and has won the Premier League title for three consecutive seasons with the Old Trafford club. -

Agent: Nemanja Vidic Would Be 'Delighted' To Join Barcelona
Manchester United centerback Nemanja Vidic has been mooted as one of the names Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola is considering to reinforce his defensive area.
The 27-year-old defender, who joined the Red Devils from Spartak Moscow in January 2006, is regarded as a key member of the squad by coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
But despite the Scottish tactician's reluctance to part company with Vidic, the Serbian is looking for pastures new, according to his agent.
"Vidic would be delighted to play at Barca as his dream is to go to the Spanish league," Paolo Fabbri told RAC1.
"We have to analyze the situation but, being realistic, things are complicated at the moment.
"The team just lost Cristiano Ronaldo and [Carlos] Tevez and they do not want to lose another important piece of their starting XI once again." -

I think his agent is only trying to get him a better deal... Afterall, its his job lah... Next deal renewal coming soon... Vidic is actually paid very low considering Rio gets about $130,000 a week... Vidic is like half of that I think and the new 50% tax rule will make it even lesser by next season...

However, Fabbri has since denied he made such comments and has instead insisted Vidic is settled at Premier League champions United.
"This is not true," he said. "I never said these things. Nemanja is happy in Manchester. If Barcelona do make an offer for him then it is up to United to make a decision."
Now I really don't know who's his real agent.
