there is no dollar in UK
incidentally, d stands for the old pence before the British convert to the new decimal system in 1971 -

currently 1 pound is 100 pence
old pound is 20 shillings or 20s, and each shilling is 12 pence
hence the old and new pence is not the same
besides, who is talking about using the stamps? its obvious they have been used -

wow.. i used to keep stamps when i was little... i even got a 18th century saudi arabian stamp...
but ur collection is nice too!
