it is... just check websters dictionary... which day is the seventh day... ? saturday.. which day is the first day of the week? sunday... which day is the sabbath according to the bible? the seventh day. you go and do the research...Originally posted by Chin Eng:I guess going to church is NOT an option.... afterall it might be the incorrect sabbath.....
well depending on how you look at it......Originally posted by breytonhartge:it is... just check websters dictionary... which day is the seventh day... ? saturday.. which day is the first day of the week? sunday... which day is the sabbath according to the bible? the seventh day. you go and do the research...
going to church is still all right, but I don't... you know why...
just because you do not do it does not mean others in the world do not do it.. the whole nation of israel work on sunday... if you are not convinced by this, then you keep your own views then... may I suggest this, why don't you pray and ask Yahweh about which day is the right day, let Him convict you one way of another... shalom!Originally posted by Chin Eng:well depending on how you look at it......
in the Bible, the creation process is from day 1 to day 6 and God rested on the seventh day, hence sabbath. The creation process is NOT Sunday to Saturday, Days, in itself, is an invention of man. If Sunday is the first day of the week, then why are we NOT working.... Well, I am sure that because you run your own business, you can work on Sunday, and rest on Saturday. For the rest of us poor sods, who do not run our own business, we work on Monday and rest on Sunday.
So if we conclude that Sabbath is the day before Day 1, therefore day 1 is the first day of work, MONDAY. Sunday, then becomes Sabbath....
Just another POV, I am sure I am entitled to this.
The muslims also work on Sunday.... does not mean anything. So do you work on Sunday? If you don't, you ought to start. afterall the whole nation of Israel work on Sunday.Originally posted by breytonhartge:just because you do not do it does not mean others in the world do not do it.. the whole nation of israel work on sunday... if you are not convinced by this, then you keep your own views then... may I suggest this, why don't you pray and ask Yahweh about which day is the right day, let Him convict you one way of another... shalom!
i do so?Originally posted by Chin Eng:The muslims also work on Sunday.... does not mean anything. So do you work on Sunday? If you don't, you ought to start. afterall the whole nation of Israel work on Sunday.
but only ONE day is made HOLY.... the others are not. So I would think that it would be important which day is it. Our Yahweh is not a careless God, He is concerned with the minutest details... He organised the stars and the course of the planets... the seasons etc... I think He would be mindful of the Sabbath. It is stated in the commandments, you will observe the sabbath to KEEP it HOLY. I am sure you don't want to do it on the wrong day... ? Just my opinion, maybe I am more particular about such things, but I find in my walk with Yahweh, that He is a particular God.Originally posted by vince69:okok... here are some explaination I heard of on why Sunday is consider 1st day of the week and we go church?
1) we honor the Lord with the first, hence Church on Sunday
2) We are not to work on the Lord's day; ie. Sabbath, if Chuch is on Saturday, then Pastor have to work on a Sabbath, which is a sin, so for the sake of the pastors/church staffs, church is on the next dat, Sunday.
..... many more .... etc
Personally, I don;t quite care, the orginal command is, six days you shall work, and on the seventh, you rest.
(and I don;t, its more important to honor the Lord with our lives daily than pick a day in a week to do it)
me don't go to church because I cannot find a good one, so I have home fellowship... listen to messages over the internet...Originally posted by NT2:so u go church on sat?
cause the typical kiasu + kiasi theory... cannot decide which one of the seven days to keep holy, just keep all seven lah, sure confirm hit one, the rest can take as extras....Originally posted by breytonhartge:but only ONE day is made HOLY.... the others are not. With things that are really important to Yahweh, He repeats the point over and over... in my opinion the problem with christianity today is that they lack the fear of the Lord because it is so watered down by the message of grace such that christians today think that Yahweh does not care about anything else just so long as they believe and they are saved...
Exodus 20:8-11Personally, I feel the main principle is this, Six days, we work, on the Seventh, a Sabbath, rest.
8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
so you are saying that the entire nation of Israel got it wrong? just to debate this...Originally posted by vince69:Personally, I feel the main principle is this, Six days, we work, on the Seventh, a Sabbath, rest.
The secondary issue is, which is the first day, and which is the seventh dat? to this, I will rather leave it to individual convictions.
Shalom...
wouldn't be the first time right?.... but I don't think they are wrong. I just think it is a different context. Again it goes back to what Day 1 is. If day 1 is the first day of work, and the cultural context of that country is Monday, then nobody's wrong.Originally posted by breytonhartge:so you are saying that the entire nation of Israel got it wrong? just to debate this...
if the designation of the days are man made, then how do you think the nation of Israel came by friday sundown to saturday sundown to obeserve the sabbath? who designated time and who chose that particular day for the nation of Israel, keeping in mind that they are the ones who have walked with Yahweh the longest. Far longer than any of us.Originally posted by Chin Eng:wouldn't be the first time right?.... but I don't think they are wrong. I just think it is a different context. I agree with Vince, the issue really is NOT what day is which, but the principle of rest for a given amount of work done.
You'd have to agree that designation of the days are man made right?
