[b]Sunday is traditionally the first day of the Judaeo-Christian seven-day week, between Saturday and Monday, and the second day of the weekend in some cultures. It is considered a holiday in lands of Christian tradition, and is the day when most Christians attend Church.

Here's where I like to present views from all angles...... it's not that I did not notice that statement. I choose to put everything out in the open whether I agree with it or not.Originally posted by breytonhartge:highlight mine... sunday is the what? According to any of the dictionaries that you care to look up, it says that sunday is the first day of the week...
When are we to keep shabbat? on the seventh day. so when is the seventh day? Saturday.
why? the debate here is not on that, it is on when the seventh day is.Originally posted by Chin Eng:Here's where I like to present views from all angles...... it's not that I did not notice that statement. I choose to put everything out in the open whether I agree with it or not.
Who determined that Sunday is the first day? Culture, race, or God?
I am still awaiting your exegesis of the other days and their paganistic origin.
debate is such string word, discuss will be better.Originally posted by breytonhartge:so you are saying that the entire nation of Israel got it wrong? just to debate this...
In all seriousness, there is nothing to debate on.... I have never said that you are wrong. On the contrary, you have been insisting that every Christian is misled by a erroneous theology. By saying that, you are liken to claim that every Christian leader that ever came up was not led by God. I'd rather take my chances in that I believe God was actively leading his church over the ages.Originally posted by breytonhartge:CE by the way, why are we debating this here? should it not be in which day is the christian sabbath?
see here... http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=202602Originally posted by vince69:debate is such string word, discuss will be better.
personally, I did not say Israel got it wrong, I did said lets each man decide accoding to his conviction on which is the day.
The principle regarding that of the Sabbath still stands, which is a day specially set aside to honor the Lord (not that we can ignore Him for the rest of the week).
Just for discussion,
which is better, a man to spend his sabbath on a Saturday doing nothing (sleeping at home) or a man who spend his on a Sunday honoring the Lord and ministrating to the poor?
I point is this.
1) Which is more important regarding the Sabbath? The accuracy of which day of the week on which to celebrate it? or The day set aside to honor the Lord?
2) Is the Sabbath created for man? or man created for the Sabbath?
Shalom...
see here for my reply...Originally posted by Chin Eng:In all seriousness, there is nothing to debate on.... I have never said that you are wrong. I am not saying that you are wrong, not because I agree with you, but I have never ever pushed my own POV on anyone stating that I know God more intimately.
I feel that the Christian sabbath is on Sunday. Does that offend you? You'd probably say: no! But the moment a thought crosses your mind that says that CE is wrong because your understanding leads you towards the Hebraic way, you are already offended.
If I say that the issue on Jesus or Yeshua is splitting hairs, your conclusion is that I am nonchalant and being flippant and that your understanding is much deeper than mine, again you have already made your judgement on who knows scripture more.
So, then, what's there to debate on? Because to you, you are right. Because you'd have me pray to Yeshua for wisdom and understanding. Doesn't this state volumes on your state of mind. A more humble person would have search within himself and, too, pray for himself for wisdom and understanding.

i think it was the lunar calendar... if I am not mistaken...Originally posted by laurence82:Question
We know the Romans used Julian calendar, and Christians used them for certain time until the creation of the currently used Gregorian calendar (sniggers at this name)...
So what was the calendar system used by the Jewish in the ancient past?
From what I know yes.Originally posted by laurence82:This is somewhat very similar to the Chinese lunar calendar in many aspects

The Chinese have no seven days week until the arrival of the Jesuits and the introduction of Western astronomy.
Do the Hebrews have seven days week?

Well, I tried reading the first few posts, and my eyes went blind...so help me here. if there was a proper seven days week system, and the seventh day is to be a day of rest, then what is the issue here actually?Originally posted by breytonhartge:From what I know yes.
