1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
these verse remains a constant reminder to myself, in the in my search to know more of the Lord, to want to be closer to God, one thing I need to remind myself.

Matthew 6:1-4
1"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Hi Vince, Shavua Tov. Hope you are better.Originally posted by vince69:shabbat shalom
This week, a bit late, was not feeling well yesterday
This week, lets focus on the heart of doing things
just that the haze is getting onto me, beside this, I am alright, thanksOriginally posted by breytonhartge:Hi Vince, Shavua Tov. Hope you are better.

The lesson I learnt from this week's passage is that we need to know why we do certain things, like giving/helping the needy ...etcOriginally posted by vince69:Matthew 6:1-4

Amen! Totally agree with you. Our acts must show Yahweh in our lives and He must increase while we decrease. Easy to say, sometimes, not so easy to do.Originally posted by vince69:The lesson I learnt from this week's passage is that we need to know why we do certain things, like giving/helping the needy ...etc
That we do not fall into the situation where we do good things just for show, but rather it should be out of the graditude of our hearts towards what Jehovah had done for us in our lives.
Isaiah 9 : 1-7
To Us a Child Is Born
1 Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan-
2 The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.
3 You have enlarged the nation
and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as men rejoice
when dividing the plunder.
4 For as in the day of Midian's defeat,
you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor.
5 Every warrior's boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.
Speaking of Yeshua ben David... the Mashiach who is to come... but He is also known as Yeshua ben Yosef, as portrayed in Isaiah 53, suffering servant.Originally posted by vince69:shabbat shalom
its Friday again... managed to have meetings only till 3pm today...
This weekend, I am thinking of introducing Yeshuah as being foretold by the prophets
Isaiah 26 : 1-4
1In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:
"We have a strong city;
He sets up walls and ramparts for security.
2"Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter,
The one that remains faithful.
3"The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace,
Because he trusts in You.
4"Trust in the LORD forever,
For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.

Here is something that I need to constantly remind myself as I go through this period of trials, to remain steadfast in the Lord and rest in His perfect peace.
true, also to remember that we need to be steadfast in the words and promises of Yahweh in our daily lives.Originally posted by breytonhartge:shabbat shalom!
I thought I would have to do this, but glad you are here. Yes, it is also mindful for us to meditate on what you have posted. Right timing for me too as I am quite stressed and going through a few trials myself, so thank you!
sure, you can start the first post? lets start from number one and work our way downwards...Originally posted by vince69:true, also to remember that we need to be steadfast in the words and promises of Yahweh in our daily lives.
on this note, perhaps, for a start, we can consider doing an exposition on The Ten Commandments (and the principles behind them and how to apply them into our daily lives)
