sometimes easier said than done huh?Originally posted by Bontakun:Its a hard one.
Having anger and avoiding sin is not impossible, but extremely hard. Just know that leaving all revenge to God will do. Be humble and patient. Be nice to those who mistreats you. Bless those who curse you. Smile back at those who shows
key operative word being try... sometimes are harder than others...Originally posted by Bontakun:More than not yes. But we try our best right?
Well, as long as we exercise patience and humility. Why not? Oh, and ask for God's guidance too.Originally posted by breytonhartge:key operative word being try... sometimes are harder than others...
then sometimes it seems difficult because often anger refuses to back down and always wants to have its voice... unless dealt with, it will always lurk beneath the surface waiting to erupt again when provoked... and often out of proportion to what provoked it. That is the scary thought. I have seen this in my mother, myself at times...Originally posted by Bontakun:Well, as long as we exercise patience and humility. Why not? but on the converse anger can lead to truth, lead to the answering of injustice... and it does guard against the indifference to sin..
the mindful thing here is not to react to anger in an inappropriate way or at too low a threshold...
here are some that just came to mind...Originally posted by breytonhartge:in considering anger, what are important key points to bear in mind as a lesson for all?
Anger is sin meh? I thought anger can make one sin though not a sin itself?Originally posted by Chin Eng:why must anger be considered sin?
That's my point..... at the end of the day, everything can be sin, everything can also not be sin...Originally posted by Bontakun:Anger is sin meh? I thought anger can make one sin though not a sin itself?

The issue is self control.
there are people who would consider anger as sin. I am not saying that brey is one of them.Originally posted by vince69:unker,
you misread Brey on this, his statement is (as I understand it) when in anger, do not sin. He did not says anger is sin, all he said was there is a tendenecy to sin (lost control of emotion) when in anger, hence we should not allow our emotion to take control and commit sin.
He also said, to remain self-control is hard when in anger, this I also agree, its not easy when the emotions are "haywired".
ok... sorry... I misread your reply...Originally posted by Chin Eng:there are people who would consider anger as sin. I am not saying that brey is one of them.
I have even heard some folks saying that Jesus can get angry, we cannot because Jesus' anger is "holy anger".... duh!
I'd rephrase this anger/sin/self control thing as: when one is angry, and does not have self-control, there a tendency for it to lead to rage.
its not ok to sin, be it in anger or not in anger.Originally posted by precipice:so it is ok to sin when not in anger?
no problem lah... get off the wall and go for lunch lah.Originally posted by vince69:ok... sorry... I misread your reply...
*vince go pull ears and face the wall...
more like wrath is unchecked and uncontrolled anger...Originally posted by laurence82:
But then I have heard and read somewhere that rage is a deep root within certain individuals because of what they have gone through in the past and it comes about because of repression and is always just boiling under the surface, you don't really know what will set it off. Sometimes, these people do not even remember what it was that keeps fueling this rage.Originally posted by Chin Eng:I'd rephrase this anger/sin/self control thing as: when one is angry, and does not have self-control, there a tendency for it to lead to rage.
Perhaps the secret to all our problems is self-control. However I don't subscribe to the western psychological analysis that things like happened because of things that happened in the past..... I think it is more likely got to do with our personality.Originally posted by breytonhartge:But then I have heard and read somewhere that rage is a deep root within certain individuals because of what they have gone through in the past and it comes about because of repression and is always just boiling under the surface, you don't really know what will set it off.
