I was just wondering what Christians think.... will you let your children visit the Casino?

Based on criticisms from certain quarters, I would like to clarify that this site is heavily skewed towards Casino issues at the moment because the Sentosa IR is under consideration as we speak. The results should be announced on or around Dec 8th.
If you have any suggestions to make, please write in to your MPs by emails or go down personally to see them on an urgent basis.
Have compassion on the children as very powerful people try to tempt them to visit the Casino IR.
At the very least, let them know that you will object strongly if the Ministry of Education through their schools organise trips to the Casino attractions.
In fact, let them know that you object strongly for them to organise trips to Sentosa Island itself. Threaten them with your vote if need be.

okay... i have had a quick skim through the blog...
what is the difference between having this casino resort open and all those P&O cruise trips to no where with each liner having a casino? Do not the adults bring kids there too?
talking about gambling being addictive and bringing in cigarettes...
so by extrapolation, the government should ban all possible situations which could lead to or give rise to addictive behaviour?
so ban TV, ban soft drinks, ban Mac D's...
also at the same time, ban the horse racing and ban 4D. -

It is not religion but a relationship with the LIVING GOD of the JEWS.
The basic problem with gambling is this : THE LOVE OF MONEY.
1 Timothy 6:10 (New King James Version)
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Going to the casino is not inherently wrong in itself, but going there because of the love of money that is something that you have to let the Holy Spirit speak to you about.
According to Jewish law, gambling with another person is forbidden as the money gained is not clean money. But gambling in the casino is a different matter altogether, for the casino is making enough money, and they figure that a certain percentage of the people will walk out with a profit.
But then the problem here is that you are supporting a "wicked" establishment.
The Holy Scriptures surprisingly say little about gambling...but
Scripture speaks of at least three ways that one may obtain or earn money:
1. Working. Ephesians 4:28 and 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12
2. Exchange or barter. Genesis 47:17 and 1 Kings 5:10-11
3. Inheritences. Matthew 7:11 and Ephesians 4:28
Is gambling at the casino wrong in the eyes of Yahweh? The question is how are you convicted?
Asking what a religion teaches about gambling is a silly question... of course all religions which are designed to teach good, will say no it is not acceptable and not good. But those religions which are more lax will say it is ok. Even within a particular religion, asking this question is like asking, how long is a piece of string. Hence I return again to my initial statement:
It is relationship with Yahweh through Yeshua that will produce the heart change that is needed to keep away from the casino.
What is Yahweh's conviction speaking to you today about this particular subject matter
It all boils down to the individual and only you are responsible for your choices. Like I said in the other thread, stop trying to find a scapegoat for a person's lack of self control. If one is not disciplined, one never will be. -

I used the word "religion" here whereas I said Buddhism and Christianity and Islam in the other forums because I do not know the basis of your claims.

I have read your posts in EH, you seem to be going round and round...
I have already quoted verses to you as to what Yahweh thinks about the love of money... so you go figure. Far be it from me to stand here and condemn. I personally feel that this problem with the casino is not new, it has been around for a long time already.
I have gone to las vegas and have visited all the casino's for the various shows like CE has stated, so then I am in the wrong?? and that was when I was 15. So how?
The question to you is this, if you think the casino is so bad, then you stay away from it, other than that it is up to each individuals persuasion as to whether he wants to go to the casino or not.
The question here is does going to the casino make you an inherently bad or sinful person?
What are the ten commandments? And if by going to the casino you are breaking any one of the ten commandments and any one of the 613 by laws which define how to live the commandments, then you are sinning. SO for example if you go to the casino because you covet, then you have sinned. But if you go there to look see, and have no desire to covet money, then you have not sinned. In fact, there are much more things in everday life that will cause one to sin much more readily than the casino... -
You take it from the perspective of "as long as I take care of myself" that is a very low standard to live by IMHO

It is giving an evil enterprise your "custom" your support.
I do not like the fact that sgforums is sponsored by a betting organisation. sgforums itself is not a betting organisation... so I do not see any problem with my participation.
I have no problem eating at a coffee shop just because there are unsavory characters hanging out there, though I might avoid it, to avoid trouble.
I will definitely not patraonise a coffee shop that is setup explicitly to lure people to gamble at its premises, just like the IR. At the very least I will never go on the internet and say loudly that I have no problem supporting evil people and evil organisations as long as I do not participate in their evil activities.
The IR is set up to promote its casino. Even if I am not a gambler, medical research confirms that many people will be trapped; many people will have their lives destroyed by the casino.
To ignore that fact and simply think about oneself is just callous and a disgrace for a Christian to admit to. Christians should subject themselves to a higher standard or else they should not call themselves Christians. -

If anyone wishing to condemn, he can do that to anyone, include the 4D operators. Why make casinos and IRs your sole crusade?
To act justly - What have I done that is unjustly? I too condemn gambling, I have never gambled, and never will. The difference between you and I is that you lump the industry as ONE entity, while I choose to separate it. It's my prerogative to view it as such. I believe that I have that freedom and that I am allowed to make that choice.
To love mercy - I will attempt to dissuade anyone from gambling, but I prefer to draw the line on what is gambling, and what is not. I think that's my prerogative. I also believe each of us are free to make our own choices.
Walk humbly -- don't get me started here, you obviously don't know me.... the regulars in EH as here in DT knows, because I have admitted it many times.... I am an arrogant person. You have no idea how many times I have said that. The fact that you have made that observation doesn't mean a thing to me.... At least I am able to tell you my faults, can you tell me yours?
