  Remember the story of Naaman (2 Kings 5)?
  
  

  11 But Naaman went away angry and said, "I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than any of the waters of Israel? Couldn't I wash in them and be cleansed?" So he turned and went off in a rage.
  
  13 Naaman's servants went to him and said, "My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, 'Wash and be cleansed'!" 14 So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.

  Here is a typical example, we often imagine Yahweh to give us task that are challenging, when sometime (actually most of the time), its the little things that He requires of us, what He is more interested is the condition of our heart and often its our attitude towards these little things that determine whether we are ready for more bigger things.

  let me continue with this... why i started the thread is because many believers refuse to obey and the question is why is it so hard? why do we have to proffer the excuse of I am waiting for the Holy Spirit to convict me? why can't we just obey... the human heart is so stubborn always wanting to go its own way...

  Many times we hesitate because we question what God's will for us is, sometimes we are just too lazy or reluctant to seek the Lord. Much of God's will for us humans is already given to us in His written Word. When we "wait" for the Holy Spirit to convict us of some sin or to do something, many times it may not be necessary as God's Word spells out clearly in many situations what is right and wrong. All we have to do is seek out the truth from His Word and obey. The Holy Spirit will never "convict" contrary to God's Word...
