Hey, this sounds like an interesting topic, would love to hear viewpoints on this one!Originally posted by breytonhartge:Colossians 2:14
having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
The verse above is constantly cited by christian believers that Yeshua nailed the law to the cross... was the law really nailed to the cross??
So what really was nailed to the cross??
Yes .. for gentiles that is.Originally posted by breytonhartge:The verse above is constantly cited by christian believers that Yeshua nailed the law to the cross... was the law really nailed to the cross??

13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you[c] alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.[d]Originally posted by vince69:I had always of the opinion, it was our sins that was nailed on the cross with the Lord, the penalty of our sins He bored.

Let's have english lesson now. What does the "it" refer to?
From my understanding of english grammar, the "it" refers to the written code. "Sins" is plural mah.
Logically it sounds weird if he forgave us all our sins, then refer to sins being nailed on the cross.
Furthermore I believe it is incorrect to say that he took our sins away (c.f. he took it away, nailing it to the cross).
I thought the proper theology is that Jesus Christ justifies us before God. If your sins are taken away, then you can do without him the moment you receive salvation.
Thought you already gave the verse? Colossians 2:14. I just put your verse into the proper context.Originally posted by breytonhartge:icy, can you give proper verse quote thanks.
if our sins are not taken away then how can we be justified before Hashem? Obviously for sins to be taken away or absolved, there has to be a sacrifice for atonement for the sin, that sacrifice was the perfect lamb in Yeshua.
which nonsesnse are yout talking about??Originally posted by Icemoon:Brey .. you aren't going to believe all the nonsense, do you?
Since atonement by sacrifice requires an altar (as set out in the Torah), are you to believe the altar is now in the sanctuary of every Catholic Church?
If Yeshua is the perfect sacrifice .. then this would be revealed in the Oral Tradition or elaborated by a Talmudic sage.
Such an important thing *cannot* possibly be missing in the Mesorah. If God told the Jews to be the light of all nations, surely God must have told the Jews about Yeshua too.
Maybe like how Jor-El would tell people about superman - "I'm gonna give you my son, my only son. He will lead you to salvation .."
that Yeshua is the sacrifice.Originally posted by breytonhartge:which nonsesnse are yout talking about??
