DOMENECH : SCOTS TOUGHER THAN ITALY
France coach Raymond Domenech claims Scotland will be a more difficult obstacle to overcome than World Cup winners Italy.
Les Bleus travel to Hampden Park on Saturday for their Euro 2008 qualifier having already avenged their World Cup final defeat by the Italians.
Domenech's side beat Georgia 3-0 away and Italy 3-1 at the Stade de France to leave them behind Scotland at the top of Group B only on goal difference.
France defender William Gallas claimed the Scots would be "quaking in their boots" but his coach moved to rule out any suggestions of over-confidence in the French camp.
He said: "Please do not underestimate the importance of this match with Scotland. For me it is of massive importance.
"It's going to be a a very big challenge for us to go there and win the game.
"The World Cup is in the past. We've also dealt with the Italy match and now we're into the crucial stages of the Euro 2008 qualifiers.
"Personally, I feel the trip to Scotland will be the first genuine match in the qualifying campaign, I really do think that.
"Scotland aren't top of the group with us by accident.
"They have got there by getting two exceptionally good results at home to the Faroes and away to Lithuania and we won't take them lightly.
"In winning their two opening games they have done enough to merit our respect and they will get that."
Arsenal's Gallas risks serious injury

Arsenal defender William Gallas admits he is risking long-term injury playing for France this week.
Gallas has a hamstring strain and is struggling to be fit for the clash at Hampden Park.
Gallas told L'Equipe: "I will test myself with the ball and do some light jogging.
"I can always play with protection, but there is a risk.
"I always want to play in these matches but if I injure myself again and am ruled out for a month it would be a pity -
McCLAREN SET TO DITCH 3-5-2 PLANS
Steve McClaren's decision to ditch England's traditional 4-4-2 formation in favour of a 3-5-2 system has reportedly been reversed after leading players revolted against the experiment.
According to The Daily Mirror, influential members of the squad are unhappy about the introduction of the new formation and want to use a system they are familiar with in Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Macedonia on Saturday.
Despite spending the past two days training in the Terry Venables-inspired 3-5-2, a meeting was reputedly arranged for Thursday night at the England hotel in which the players expressed their reservations.
McClaren is believed to have welcomed their input and the Mirror says that 'It now seems as if he will leave it up to the England squad to have the final say.'
If true, the remarkable exercise of player-power would carry distinct - and unfavourable - echoes of the Sven-Goran Eriksson era when the Swede would frequently be cowed by the influence of senior squad figures.
Ironically, in his press conference on Thursday afternoon, Rio Ferdinand repeatedly lauded McClaren's supposed hardline style as opposed to Eriksson's much-derided softly-softly approach.

France head coach Raymond Domenech is set to make a late decision on whether captain Patrick Vieira will face Scotland.
The Inter Milan midfielder is rated doubtful for the European Championship qualifier at Hampden Park after colliding with team-mate Lilian Thuram in training at Clairefontaine on Thursday.
The ex-Arsenal man will undergo a scan on his ankle injury before Domenech makes a decision.
Manchester United striker Louis Saha is also a doubt for the game but he, too, faces a late decision.
Domenech said: "We train later on and I will see how Patrick's fitness is after the training.
"It is the same situation with Louis Saha."
Scotland boss Walter Smith also has selection problems with Gary Naysmith, Graeme Murty and Kevin McNaughton out injured and Kenny Miller suspended.
Everton forward James McFadden has been tipped to play as a lone striker.
But, asked whether he was relieved not to be facing Celtic forward Miller, Domenech said: "That would be an insult to the player who plays in Kenny Miller's position.
"All players want to play and we will look at the ones on the pitch, not the ones who are not playing."
However, the French boss has decided not to call upon Paul Le Guen for inside information on the Scotland squad his players will be facing at Hampden.
Domenech was considering making a call to his fellow Frenchman for the low-down on their rivals but decided it would be unfair to the Rangers manager.
He said: "No, I did not speak to Paul Le Guen.
"He lives in Scotland now and I felt it would have put him in a difficult position.
"I did not want to ask him about the Scotland players. I have other ways of finding out about them."
Scotland crashed to a 5-0 defeat the last time they played France, in Berti Vogts' disastrous debut in Paris in March 2002.
But Domenech sees no reason why history should be repeated now circumstances have changed for both nations.
He said: "The last time the two teams played each other, I was not here, so it does not really count.
"What is important is tomorrow. There is no relation between what happened before and what will happen tomorrow."
He added: "They will be dangerous in all areas, from the kick-off to the final whistle.
"The Scotland players can cause us problems. They beat the Faroe Islands 6-0, which we have not managed to do."
