Manchester United will make a significant summer bid for Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to add some steel to his Old Trafford midfield. The Old Trafford boss has long been an admirer of the Italian international and may offer the Serie A side a player in part exchange in their efforts to persuade the Stadio Olimpico side to sell.
One club man De Rossi is now in his tenth season at his home-town club and is yet to secure significant silverware and has strongly been linked with a move away from the Giallorossi this summer. The box to box midfielder has five domestic title runner up medals and is thought to be ready to move to a club that can offer him the chance of major honours but would be against seeking a move to another Italian side and has therefore been linked with moves abroad.
Jose Mourinho is also courting the central midfielder and now Sir Alex Ferguson is planning a summer move as he looks to bring in a strong tackler, something he could need all the more due to the prolonged injury concerns over Owen Hargreaves.
The Premier League table toppers are ready to break the club’s transfer record to land the 27 year old and could offer up to £33.6m (€40m), which is apparently the valuation the Roma side has placed on one of their prized assets as they seek to resolve their financial problems.
Ferguson is also ready to offer the likes of Federico Macheda or Anderson in part exchange for man capped 63 times by Italy.
