Didier Drogba on Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham shopping list
HARRY REDKNAPP fancies a bid for Didier Drogba if the Chelsea star becomes available.
The Tottenham boss will carry out a major overhaul of his striking department this summer, whether or not Spurs qualify for a second successive Champions League campaign.
And top of his list is Lorient hot shot Gameiro. He will be allowed to leave his club, although the asking price may be as high as £13million.
People Sport can also reveal that Redknapp is eyeing Drogba’s situation following his recent axeing from Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team starting line-up.
Drogba, who turns 33 this week, will only have a year left on his Stamford Bridge deal in June. He would prefer to stay and will wait to discover the fate of Ancelotti before deciding on his future.
But if his prospects remain poor, Drogba will become a target for Redknapp.
Although the Ivory Coast ace would no longer command a huge transfer fee, chairman Daniel Levy prefers younger players on lower wages.
Redknapp plans to shake up his forward line, with doubts about the long-term futures of Robbie Keane, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch.

Could this deal ever really happen or is someone at The Express in need of psychiatric evaluation? Well it’s probably the latter as whilst Harry Redknapp may entertain notions of signing Didier Drogba, such notions probably occur when he is fast asleep and dealing in a fantasy wonderland. Yes Tottenham are on the up and up but the Ivory Coast goal machine will almost certainly never play for another Premier League side.
If the 32 year old feels sufficiently angered by being benched for Fernando Torres and Nicolas Anelka to flee the club then it will be to either move to France or to Spain where the likes of Marseille and Real Madrid respectively, are ready and waiting to sign him.
Redknapp will have been heartened by the fact that Jermain Defoe finally broke his Premier League duck yesterday when the England man scored two beauties and the fact that Roman Pavlyuchenko also scored a cracker, however it does seem likely that the Spurs manager will look to sell one maybe two of his quartet with Robbie Keane almost certain to leave.
As for Chelsea, well Carlo Ancelotti appears ready to cull some of his older players and may well let Drogba leave if he so desires. Florent Malouda, Yuri Zhirkov, Jose Bosingwa and Paulo Ferreira may also be offloaded this summer.
