Chelsea are being strongly linked with a move for AC Milan forward Pato.
Reports in Italy claim the clubs are in advanced talks with Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti prepared to sanction a deal worth £18m plus Didier Drogba in part-exchange.
Neither club has commented about the transfer talk but Ancelotti is a known admirer of the Brazilian player from his time in charge at the San Siro and he is looking to freshen up his Chelsea squad.

There is increasing speculation that Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba is not happy at Chelsea after seeing his place in the starting eleven handed to new signing Fernando Torres and the 33 year old has subsequently been linked with a move away from the West London club with the likes of Marseille and Galatasaray reportedly interested in signing the veteran.
However a move to AC Milan will surely trump that interest if indeed this source is accurate. Carlo Ancelotti will be greatly interested in bringing his former star turn Alexandre Pato to Stamford Bridge and perhaps the Brazilian would be interested in a new challenge not least because the youngster is by no means a regular starter at the San Siro since the arrival of Robinho, Antonio Cassano and Zlatan Ibrahimovic during the course of last summer and during the season itself.
Chelsea top scorer Nicolas Anelka could also be set to leave this summer and Daniel Sturridge appears to want to make his loan move to Bolton a permanent one so there could well be a chance that Ancelotti sees a potential mouthwatering strike partnership of Torres and Pato as the way to go.
The combined cost would reportedly run to £36m for the 21 year old, with half of that coming in the form of Drogba’s move in the other direction.
