Aston Villa veteran Robert Pires has branded former France coach Raymond Domenech as "insane".
Domenech left after some of the France players went on strike at the 2010 World Cup finals because they were so unhappy with him.
Such was the disgust with what happened in South Africa that the French government held an inquiry.
And some players were even BANNED from playing for their country as a result.
Ex-Arsenal star Pires, 37, said: "I sympathise with the players. They were managed by a madman - Raymond Domenech.
"I speak from experience. When I was called up to play for France, when he was in charge, I felt I was going to a madhouse. I was physically sick.
"Arsene Wenger used to ask me what was wrong. I would reply that I didn't want to go there. The man is insane."
