Ruud van Nistelrooy has admitted he does not expect to be called up to play for Holland again as long as Marco van Basten remains coach of the national team.
The former Manchester United striker - now at Real Madrid - has not figured on the international scene since he was substituted against Argentina in the final group game of the World Cup in Germany.
Van Nistelrooy also went on to criticise the selection methods used by Van Basten, and the way in which he handled his players at the World Cup.
"It's a shame that the national team coach is not only driven by the footballing abilities of his players, but other things as well.
"Van Basten told me that he thought I played badly in all three group games.
"Well, if he thought that I played poorly against Ivory Coast, it might be best if we don't work together anymore."
