CLAUDIO RANIERI has been told to lower his wage demands or forget about becoming Leeds boss.
The former Chelsea chief, 54, insists he is keen on talking to chairman Ken Bates about succeeding Kevin Blackwell at Elland Road.
Ranieri has been spotted in and around the city and saw Leeds draw 2-2 at QPR this season.
But the Italian wants £600,000 a year - about £11,500 a week - and Bates may only be prepared to pay him half that amount.
Bates still has to reach a compensation settlement with Blackwell.
