Steve McClaren has named his latest England squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers with Macedonia, at Old Trafford next Saturday, and Croatia in Zagreb four days later.
Charlton's Darren Bent has to content himself with a place in the Under-21 party to face Germany. The most noteworthy addition to the senior squad is Scott Parker who replace Owen Hargreaves.
Squad: Robinson (Tottenham), Foster (Man Utd), Kirkland (Liverpool); G Neville (Man Utd), P Neville (Everton), Brown (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Carragher (Liverpool), King (Tottenham), A Cole (Chelsea), Bridge (Chelsea); Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Jenas (Tottenham), Carrick (Man Utd), Richardson (Man Utd), Downing (Middlesbrough), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Parker (Newcastle); Rooney (Man Utd), Crouch (Liverpool), Johnson (Everton), Defoe (Spurs).
I wonder how did Richardson got into the squad...
Steve McClaren admits Andrew Johnson's spectacular start to the season is giving him a selection headache.
Johnson, 25, has been in prolific form since moving to Everton from Crystal Palace in the summer. McClaren said: 'When you look at the strikers, Jermain has come in and played three and done very well when he's played with Peter Crouch. 'But for me Andy Johnson is the one who is really coming through.
'I've seen him two or three times and he's really impressed me with his work ethic and the way he works for the team.
'He's really pushing the strikers very hard. He deserves his place in the squad and he's knocking on the door to get in the team.'
McClaren admits Rooney is an automatic choice despite his poor goal record for England in the last two years. Rooney is certain to start after returning from suspension and Crouch is likely to partner him.
he should drop defoe and bring bent
haha... you got half your wish...
Charlton's Darren Bent has been called into the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers after Everton's Andrew Johnson was forced to pull out.
Striker Johnson will miss Saturday's game against Macedonia at Old Trafford and the 11 October trip to Croatia because of a hamstring injury.
