France defender Jean-Alain Boumsong believes he has made the right choice by leaving Newcastle United and the Premier League to join Juventus in Serie B.
'I don't have the impression that I'm playing in Serie B,' said Boumsong. 'I'm playing for Juve. I'm at a great club. 'Juve's place is not in Serie B and you don't say 'no' to Juve.
Boumsong, who had a hard time with the fans and media last season at Newcastle and is second choice to Arsenal's William Gallas, said he felt he did not always get a fair treatment.
'I think that criticism of me is excessive, 'It sounds like I do more bad things than good ones. When I'm good, nobody talks about it. When I make blunders, it sounds like that's all I ever do.
'I was the target of the English press when I was playing for Newcastle last season,' he added 'It was relentless and stupid. All right, I'm no Beckenbauer but with time I've figured out what I can do and what I can't.'
Boumsong played in France's 1-0 defeat by Scotland in their Euro 2008 qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday, conceding the corner that led to Scotland's goal.
