ALAN PARDEW was choked with emotion after Teddy Sheringham saved his job.
Veteran striker SuperTed inspired West Ham as they ended a run of eight defeats.
Under-fire boss Pardew said: “I thought I might be in for a spot of bother asking a 40-year-old to save the day. But he is a special character.
“Managers are not usually emotional but it got to me a bit when the crowd sang my name. I have had lots of messages from West Ham fans and I want to stay here.
“The atmosphere here was incredible and something you don’t get at many other grounds.
“It was a fantastic day for West Ham under extreme pressure. When the fans could have been anywhere else they wanted, they chose to back us and it is special.
Sheringham headed the Hammers into a 21st-minute lead and Hayden Mullins made it 2-0 before David Bentley struck for Blackburn to set up a nervy final few seconds.
Pardew added: “Teddy has leadership qualities that are vital.
“It is always nice to have a senior player you can look to lean on.
